Last year 245 volunteers gave us an amazing 8,000-plus hours of their valuable time, and we had a great time honoring them at our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
Featuring a family-friendly comedian as well as great food, the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Marv Giddings Extraordinary Fundraising Award, which went to a special group of young people this year.
Made up of local teenagers, the Jr. Foundation at Rolling Hills has a big heart for the community and raised $10,250 for Hope House through a variety of events last year… including the ever-exciting Ducky Derby.
"This is an amazing group of teens," said Lisa Schlarbaum, Director of Development at Hope House. "It is impressive to see young people working hard to support their peers in their very own community."
Four members of the Jr. Foundation attended the event to accept the award, which was designed to commemorate the Ducky Derby.
“I love being on the Jr. Foundation because it helps me get to know kids my age who are also interested in helping others,” said Jake Johnson, who is a member of the Jr. Foundation and a sophomore at Golden High School.
