With COVID-19 cases still confirmed in Colorado, Hope House Colorado is doing everything we can to help slow the spread of this virus while prioritizing the needs of our teen moms and their children. In mid-March we closed the Resource Center to follow suit with the closures of Jefferson County Public Schools and to evaluate the best ways to care for our mamas during the beginning of the health crisis. Due to the nationwide economic shutdown, over 30% of our moms lost their jobs or had hours cut. At that time, we began operating a Grab & Go curbside supply line because our teen moms needed to depend on us for critical assistance with food, diapers, wipes and other essentials. They would drive up to the Resource Center and pick up boxes of supplies and food while staff members packaged orders inside wearing masks and gloves. From mid-March up until the end of June, we were able to distribute a total of 659 orders to teen moms and their children. We are so grateful to all our partners, donors and champions who helped meet our girls’ needs during such a critical time!
Beginning in late-June, we gradually re-opened our programming by offering smaller class sizes where teen moms could practice social distancing. Their children were able to return to the Early Learning Program, in smaller groups with the same children to allow us to keep records for contact tracing, if necessary. Everyone in the building—teen moms, children, staff and volunteers—had their temperatures taken upon arrival and departure, as well as answered a few questions about their health. Now in late November, we have again followed guidelines of Jefferson County and followed suit with protocols that align with the safety measures required for COVID level red. We have decreased the number of people in the Resource Center while still allowing our teen moms to come in for one-on-one in-person meetings by appointment only. Some classes and meetings are back to a virtual setting at this time. Our Grab & Go curbside supply line is again in full effect as well.
We will continue to monitor and follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) as we implement more gradual updates to our operations. Overall, we are just so glad our teen moms and their children have been able to experience Hope House as a place they can call home again. Though ‘safer at home’ applies to many, it does not always apply to our girls (where many have come from broken homes, abusive relationships and live in unsafe environments). Our girls have always been and will remain our priority.

As our number one priority, our girls still need our help during this ongoing health crisis!
We are continuing to offer our teen moms access to an on-site food pantry where they can pick up meal boxes curbside at the Resource Center. Other essential items also remain a critical need for many moms during this time. Monetary donations to our COVID-Crisis Fund help meet specific needs for our moms: rent, bills, baby supplies and more. Our In-Kind Donations remain important ways you can help meet the tangible needs of our moms too!
HERE ARE WAYS YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
Monetary Donations:
Many of our teen moms have had their hours cut or have lost their jobs. Please consider donating to our crisis fund to help us meet their unprecedented financial needs.

In-Kind Donations:
We are accepting very limited in-kind donations by appointment only. You can find a list of current needs and sign up for a drop off time here. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Brie Dilley, Development Resource Coordinator, at Brie.Dilley@.
Your donations will help keep our on-site food pantry and essential items stocked for our teen moms. If you are unable to schedule an appointment and come by the Resource Center, we encourage you to purchase items online and have them delivered to Hope House at 6475 Benton St Bldg A, Arvada CO, 80003. Please contact us to learn about our most pressing needs.
Thank you for your continued support of our teen moms during this challenging time!
