Monica first joined the Hope House staff in September 2021 as an early learning teacher, serving children in the resource center’s early learning classes while their moms worked toward their self-sufficiency goals.
Monica left Hope House in October 2022 and moved to Colorado’s eastern plains. She taught preschool for a year before transitioning to an elementary special education department, where she worked as a special education paraprofessional. She is excited to return to Hope House as an early learning teacher in the new early learning center.
Originally from Philadelphia, Monica visits family there as often as she can. She felt called to Colorado as a missionary and has since built a life here, raising her family, serving in ministry and teaching for more than 30 years in both private and public schools.
Monica is a mother of six and Nonna to two grandchildren. She holds lead teacher and assistant teacher certifications in the foundations of early childhood education and has a background in early childhood music and art.
For 10 years, Monica served as a foster-to-adopt parent and provided a specialized home through Adams County for children who had experienced early trauma. She fostered children from infancy through their teenage years and adopted three of her children. She also worked closely with birth families to support reunification and mentored teens who aged out of foster care, with the hope of transforming lives for Christ.
Monica loves working alongside teen moms and their children and is passionate about all aspects of early childhood education and family engagement.
